The First Word (book one of The Visionaries)

“Lovely writing and a sweet romance make for a promising debut.” — Kirkus Reviews

“The portrayal of several non-neurotypical main characters makes for an interesting, timely, and sensitive read. Rhys’s point of view is especially endearing, as an adult who has struggled with undiagnosed autism-spectrum symptoms. His empathy for his son and his own young self is moving. Andie has demons of her own, and working so closely with Will brings them to the surface… There is a ton of heart in this romance, and plenty to enjoy.” — RT Book Reviews

To stay sane, Andie Tilly must keep her mind on her work. Her job as a pediatric occupational therapist is the perfect distraction from the unspeakable tragedy she experienced as a child. But when she meets alternative-energy magnate Rhys Griffiths and his autistic toddler, Will, she quickly realizes her heart will never be the same. Especially when her name becomes Will’s first word.

After accepting a position as a live-in therapist for Will, Andie steels herself against the appeal of the disconcertingly attractive—and attracted—Rhys. But their chemistry can no longer be denied, and their heated affair seems destined for happily ever after. A destiny Andie’s terrified to embrace.

When Andie’s guilt, Rhys’s awkwardness, and the abrupt appearance of an erratic ex threaten to dismantle their delicately blooming relationship, they must decide if love is worth the challenge. Can Andie and Rhys find their way back to each other? Or will the demons of the past simply prove too strong?

The Visionaries Series

The Visionaries are a group of MIT-pedigreed science and technology entrepreneurs who are blazing a trail to startup glory, even as their love lives threaten to flame out. Engineering guru Rhys, from The First Word, is the first of the group to set his sights on love, but he won’t be the last.

  1. I bought this book as part of the Kindle First Pick for May 2017. I just read the blurb and thought it would be interesting. But it was so much more than that. This story blew me away, I could not put it down, so I finished it in one sitting. I know nothing about autism but even I could tell both Rhys and his father had autistic tendencies. This book is nothing short of amazing. The best I have read in a long time. I can guarantee that anyone that reads this book will not be disappointed.

  3. This book was wonderful and brought back memories when I volunteered at an Autistic school many years ago. I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to your 2018 book.

  4. Thank you for writing such a wonderful book. I know several Autistic children and this was a beautiful sharing of the life of the child and parent and putting the loving Andie in their lives. I could not put it down. I immediately went looking for more books – can’t wait to read book 2 of this series. Keep them coming…

Just found your book on Amazon.de. I look forward to reading it. Having some experience with working with Autistic children, I am very much interested in how you deal with the topic.
